The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate 476,000 new cases of Lyme disease occur each year in the United States. States in the Mid-Atlantic region are among those with the highest incidence rates. Research aims to better understand long-term health after infection, reduce uncertainty among patients and physicians, and improve patient care.
